Saffron Hawks under-13s returned from the Nottingham Invitational tournament with plate silverware at the weekend.

The two-day event brings together the best teams in England and Hawks under-12s finished fourth in their qualifying group on Saturday to become only the third team in club history to reach the cup phase.

Their opponents on Sunday included the childhood clubs of many England stars and Hawks finished seventh out of 17, with the fourth highest amount of goals, after beating national finalist Poole, Bury and Yendys and suffering a one-goal loss to Chester, who finished fourth.

The under-13s were short of players and just missed out on their cup phase, but beat Yendys and had a nailbiting draw with AP Saints to set up a must-win match against Durham.

And as tiredness set in, they battled hard to score a dramatic winning goal in the dying seconds and claim the plate silverware.
