Several of these swimmers were then selected to travel to the second leg of the Essex Mini League, held at Hornchurch last Saturday. The pool is just over 36 yards, a length not encountered before by all those competing for the first time, and by a number of the regular EML swimmers.

The additional distance caught out one or two swimmers, but the squad put in a good performance against strong competition. For the first time in seven fixtures the final result saw Seals finish behind the other teams:

Colchester - 160 points

Harwich - 135 points

Hornchurch - 133 points

Rochford - 121 points

Seals - 97 points
