In a busy week for Saffron Striders, Ian Henley got the ball rolling, winning the Haverhill 5K time-trial in 17 minutes, with Steven McNicolas coming third in just over 18 minutes.

Baz Taylor had the toughest task of the weekend as he managed an incredible 132 miles straight at the Grand Union Canal Ultra Marathon between Birmingham and London, finally coming to a halt at midnight sunday evening.

Meanwhile a number of Striders tackled the popular Hatfield Broad Oak 10K, Andrew Mynott was 10th overall and first for Striders in a whopping 35:23, with Tony Bacon in second with 38:31.

Rebecca White was third in 40:17 and Nigel Coates fourth for Striders in a time of 40:18. Alan Jones managed a PB as he clocked 43:45 and Guy Tremayne also continued his rise to form, finishing in 51:25 and another PB.

Arthur Olivia, Karen Baddeley, David Buckfield, Robert Shaw, Micheal Bradley, James Hewlett, John Selby, Helen Hewlett and Lisa Plumb also finished the race in what was a strong turn-out for the Saffron Walden-based team.
