Tom Duggan gunning for CAGU glory this weekend



TOM Duggan and Olly Tuck produced the goods for the Saffron Walden Golf Club scratch team away at Abbotsley in the latest round of matches in CAGU Division 1.

Walden lost 4-2 in a difficult encounter which leaves them bottom of the table by one point from Elton Furze and Ely.

The fixture list has been unkind to Walden having had three out of the first four games away from home this year.

Duggan and Tuck turned on the style. Having been two down with five holes to go they fired two birdies to run out one hole winners against Armitage and Loveday.

Duggan recently shot 40 points in a recent medal to reduce his handicap to scratch which puts him in great from for the CAGU amateur championship at Gog Magog on Saturday.

Richard Southall and Daniel van der Westhuizen lost to Osbourne and Hawkins one-up and Graham Goodman and James Goodfellow lost five-down to Doran and Redman.

Other results in the league were: Gog Magog 6 Elton Furze 0;Ely 1 Brampton Pk 5.

Walden’s captain Richard Southall said: “We now have four out of six home games left which with six points at stake each fixture could alter the table significantly.”
