Charlotte Harrington and Rebecca Doe celebrated a 6-1 victory against Monica Sutherland and Mary Davidson in the final of this year’s fundraising tennis tournament.

The Grove Tennis Club in Saffron Walden once again played host to the annual ladies tennis tournament – and this year £800 was raised for Essex Air Ambulance.

Organiser Rosemary Gorman said: “We have been holding this tournament since 2006. Held each year the week before Wimbledon, the tournament is open for anyone who likes to play tennis. It is a wonderful fun way to help raise funds for local charities.

“Each year we chose a different charity – in the past we have supported charities such as The Samaritans, Homestart and Riding for the Disabled.

“This year we are delighted to have raised £800 for Essex Air Ambulance.”

Liz Stott and Kim Querre added to this year’s successful Saffron Walden ladies team by winning the plate.

The Grove Tennis Club will be holding an open afternoon next month, on Sunday, July 20.
