Saffron Walden members turned out in big numbers for the club’s Captains’ Days.

Junior captain Charlie Carter presented prizes to sister Hettie and team-mates Katie Stevens and Will McKernon for winning a texas scramble.

And a total of 154 members took part in a men’s fourball competition, with Gordon Plumb and George Reynolds winning with 43 points after three birdies on par threes.

Richard Slater and Nigel Ball were one point behind in second on countback from Mike Nutall and Peter Flowers.

Sunday’s greensomes saw 40 pairs play mixed golf, with Vilma and Roger Krinks (42 points) beating regular playing partners Linda and David Minton (40).

Melissa Jones and Clive Walker (39) were third on countback, before over 100 women played a waltz.

Anthea Boon, Chris Noakes and Sue Bowler (74 points) won ahead of Olivia Hall, Jo Reay and Caroline Peat (72) and Jean Burnham, Deb Bowler and Charlotte Pienaar (68).
