Saffron Dynamos progressed through to the second round of the Lower Junior Cup on Saturday with a comfortable 7-1 win at Guilden Morden.
After last week’s draw with a bare 11 players, Dynamos were able to name a full strength squad for this tie against their division 5B opponents.
It was not a great start for the Dynamos as the hosts were awarded a penalty in the first minute for an accidental hand ball and it was duly converted. Despite this, it did not hamper the Dynamos as they soon got into their stride and on 10 minutes new signing Jack Saunders slotted home for his first club goal.
With Dynamos increasing the pressure, a great right wing cross from Toby Meek was bundled in by a home defender.
A goal from captain Ryan Barry on 29 minutes rewarded the visitors’ good attacking display, this was followed 10 minutes later with Saunders grabbing his second with another good finish inside the box.
In the second half Dynamos came out playing at a high tempo and with 59 minutes on the clock Saunders completed his hat-trick with a brave finish as he tangled with a defender to flight the ball over him into the net.
The home team did make a brief comeback as they brought on numerous substitutes but the Dynamos back four held them comfortably.
Dynamos brought on all their substitutes as Sam Mitchell finished well on 72 minutes with Ben Start scoring five minutes later to wrap up the win.
