Saffron Walden Town’s U18s broke new ground as they picked up their first away win and first clean sheet of the season.

Fakenham presented their longest trip of the year but the Bloods started well as Cavan Black, 16, forced a good save from the home goalkeeper.

Dan Whittle broke the deadlock with a superb individual goal as he rounded three defenders before a cool finish from 12 yards out.

Dylan Reams almost doubled the lead before the break but Suyash Gurung’s cross just evaded him.

Fakenham began the second half strongly and Aaron Millar made a crucial save, palming a looping shot onto the bar. The hosts’ pressure continued to build but Walden’s defence held first to seal a vital win.
