Saffron Walden local football round up

Cambridge Ambassadors 2 Saffron Crocus 10

Scott Cummings and Ross Millard both hit four goals as Crocus comfortably moved into the third round of the Cambs Cup at the expense of Cambridge Ambassadors.

Mike Mylees was also on the scoresheet and, after Cambridge had pulled two goals back late on, man-of-the-match Ian Lechy had the final say with a well-taken 10th,

Casuals and Pelham 4 Abacus Athletic 4

A Steve Leys hat-trick was not enough for Abacus as they were held to a draw at Casuals in an eight-goal thriller.

Abacus were 4-2 up going into the last 10 minutes – thanks to captain Leys’ treble and another from debutant Andrew Eldred – but they failed to see out the game as the hosts grabbed two late goals, including the equaliser with the last kick of the game.

Longstanton Res 2 Saffron Dynamos 1

Saffron Dynamos were unlucky not to progress in to the third round of the Lower Junior Cup after losing out at Div 3B Longstanton Res.

Dynamos, who play in Div 5A, got off to the worse possible start as the hosts took a 2-0 lead after only 10 minutes.

Charlie Brockwell equalised with a low shot on 20 minutes but despite every effort could not find the equaliser.

Dynamos return to league action at home to Clare Town on Saturday, 3pm kick off.
