Saffron Crocus 5 Hundon 3

CROCUS produced their performance of the season so far to thrash a bottom four Hundon team in a thrilling game, with Adam Higgins scoring a superb hat-trick.

Crocus took an early lead when Higgins slotted in from close range. The visitors from Haverhill equalised soon after when stand-in keeper Richard Nash made a class save from close range but could not do anything about the rebound.

The hosts turned on the style in the second half, inspired by a Michael Eldred penalty, and hit three more with playmaker Higgins completing a deserved hat-trick and top scorer Scott Cummings also netting in fine style.

Andrew Eldred came close to increasing the advantage late on as Crocus saw out the remainder of the game but Hundon managed a late consolation goal.

Manager Michel Eldred was happy with the performance and said he was delighted with the way the team “swept aside one of the so called big teams in the division with ease”.

Next: Crocus now begin there winter break and resume action again in January.
