Saffron Walden Community FC has been named charter standard club of the year by the Essex FA.
The club will now go up against winners from other counties for the national award, which will be revealed at the Community Shield at Wembley on August 5.
The accolade comes at the end of a successful first year for the club, formed in June 2017 after a merger between Saffron Walden Town Youth and Spartak YSC78.
A total of 39 teams from under-seven to under-18 were entered into leagues this year and a Mini Soccer school for reception and year one pupils now has around 70 players.
Partner club PSG has nine girls’ teams, taking the total number of registered players to around the 750 mark.
Chairman Martin Johnson said: “The award is fantastic news and I want to thank all our volunteer coaches and others who help for making it possible.
“We are really trying to raise standards in terms of how we run the club.”
