Saffron Walden Winter Dart League: Final date for Fleur and Victory

PUBLISHED: 11:27 27 March 2012

WITH just a handful of rescheduled league matches to complete the season, week 19 of the Saffron Walden Winter Dart League turned its attentions to the semi-finals of the Medics Cup.

In a semi-final that was always going to be close the score was 3-3 after the six singles games between the Fleur de Lys A and the Queens Head B. All depended on the three pairs games and wins for Simon Monk and Neil Francis, followed by Wayne Bloomfield and Damon Miles secured a place in the final for the Fleur de Lys by a 5-3 margin. Earlier Wayne Bloomfield had a 100 out shot in his singles game.

In the other semi final the Victory A took a 4-2 lead over the Rose & Crown Ashdon in the singles with wins for Spencer Burlingham, Steve Nunn, Daren Wardley and Steve Archer. Requiring a win in just one of the pairs games, Steve Nunn and Rob Anderson duly obliged to make it a 5-2 win for the Victory.

The two winning teams will contest the Medics Cup Final on April 19.

In a rescheduled division two match Victory B became divisional champions despite losing 5-4 to Newport Club B.

The Victory team had just needed two points from their last league match to ensure the championship.
