Now in its 13th year, the event is based on the Olympic Games model, with multiple sports held over four days involcinng 1400 children.

Triathlon was one of five new sports introduced, with the Saffron Walden County High pupils competing in individual and team races.

The first day included an aquathlon of 300m swim and 2.5k run with the first five in each heat going into the A final and the rest into the B final.

Jack Stanton-Stock finished his heat in second, but he was squeezed in the swim and finished day one in eighth, while Charlie was left two minutes behind rival Finlay Jakes in the para event.

A strong technical bike leg from Jack saw him move up to fifth, while Charlie rode brilliantly to within 15 seconds of Jakes to take silver.

And Jack then caught his race leader and got to the front of the pack, spriting for the line to claim gold.

The final day included the mixed relay and the para teams had two boys and a girl, with an associated guide.

And Charlie’s team managed to come away with gold after an excellent race, before Jack’s team were pipped to bronze by just a few seconds in their event.
