Stealers bounce back from overtime loss with blowout against Coggeshall

SAFFRON Stealers bounced back from a heartbreaking overtime loss last time out by blowing the Coggeshall Cougars off the court in devastating fashion.

With a full team to choose from, the Stealers established an early lead by utilising their superior speed and quick tempo at the Lord Butler Leisure Centre.

Both teams settled into their rhythm in the second quarter and after trading baskets the Stealers went into half time with an 11 point lead.

That was as close as it got for the tiring Cougars though. The home team came out all guns blazing in the third quarter and the defensive pressure of the Clay and Dexter brothers, along with the athletism of young Jordan Cook, meant their opponents were kept to a mere three points - a feat unheard of at any level of basketball.

The Cougars could not handle the speed of the Stealers defence and had no reply to the home side’s power and ball movement going forward.

With a huge lead, the game was all but over, but Alex Sullivan and Andy Sheridon kept up the good work in the fourth quarter and continued to terroise the Cougars defence with good, strong quality basketball.
