Saffron Striders have been busy on the cross-country scene in recent weeks.

Two teams of four competed at the annuel Hereward Relay, a four-legged, nearly 40-mile event that runs in stages from Peterborough to Ely.

Marco Arcidiacono, Tim McMahon, Nigel Coates and Alan Jones combined well to finish 20th out of 120 teams in four hours 43 minutes, as clubmates Lucie Heanley, Kate Holden, Alistair Cooke and Simon Chambers clocked 5:44.

And a quartet of Striders were also in action at the Essex Cross-Country Championships at Colchester Hilly Fields last weekend, where Fiona Halls, Rebecca O’Rourke, Marianne Taylor and Heanley joined forces to good effect to bring a superb team bronze medal back to Saffron Walden.

*Saffron Striders meet outside the Lord Butler Fitness & Leisure Centre every Tuesday at 7.45pm for an 8pm start. All abilities are welcomed.
