Success at endurance races

ENDURANCE was the name of the game for Saffron Walden triathletes at they competed in the Mud, Sweat and Tears Summer Race at Thetford Forest.
Taking part in 10-hour, eight-hour, and six-hour races, the goal was to achieve as many laps of the eight-miles course as possible in the allotted times.
In the solo 10-hour event Clare Thompson took first place with 14 laps (112 miles) and Greg Herring finished in 8th with 12 laps. In the female pairs Sue McIntyre and partner managed first with 13 laps.
Jack Peasgood joined Liam Brook to bag third place in a thrilling men’s race that saw the lead almost change hands in the final moments only for Peasgood to hold on.
The six-hour saw three pairs racing; Matt Hinton and Paul Whiffen grabbed fourth with 11 laps, Neal Mummery and Ian Howlett came 13th 10 laps and Donna Dale and Andrew Riley took the second step of the podium with 10 laps in the mixed race.
