Tennis club’s £20,000 splash on new toilets

PUBLISHED: 09:33 09 February 2011

CASTLE Hill Tennis Club now has a brand new £20,000 toilet facility thanks to generous grants from Viridor Credits, the Stansted Airport Community Trust and Saffron Walden Town Council.

Until recently, tennis players and guests made use of the toilet at the Conservative Club, but when it was sold last year the club had to act quickly to raise funds for its own facilities.

Club chairman Pete Smith said: “With a re-surfaced hard court, two grass courts and a new toilet, the club is looking forward to welcoming many new members when the season starts at the end of April.

“We are a small, friendly club and welcome players of all abilities. For more details please contact me on 01799 520454 or see our website at castlehilltennisclub.co.uk.”

The grants totalled £13,000 (£10,000 from Viridor, £2000 from Stansted, £1000 from the town council) and the rest of the capital was met by the club itself.
