Walden’s victory means they sit four points behind Brampton with a game in hand.

Captain Graham Goodman said: “This victory was a defining moment in our season against the trailblazers Brampton.

“Olly [Tuck] and Mark [Reeve] were aggressive and struck early on and played their finest golf. We blooded Callum [Brookes] in his first serious scratch game and he provided a good foil for Ryan [Adair]’s power.

“Our unbeaten pairing, Richard Southall and Cam Brown, nearly came a cropper but they fought back to draw.

“We have Links away next week so we have to keep up our ruthless play to forge ahead of our rivals”
