THIS weekend, a quartet of athletes from Walden Tri competed in the World Age Group Championships in Budapest Hungary.

Dave Mather raced the sprint distance (750 metre swim, 20km bike and 5km run) race on the Saturday morning in tough wet conditions, completing the course in one hour eight minutes and 49 seconds to come 29th in his age group and a respectable 188th overall.

On the Sunday morning with conditions slightly improving, but the water temperature still at a chilly 15 degrees, Greg Lewis, Nicki Davis and Jack Peasgood took to the longer standard distance course made up of a 1500m swim, 40km bike and then a 10km run.

Greg completed the standard course in two hours one minute and 26 seconds to come 48th in his age group and a respectable 291st overall.

Jack completed the standard course in one hour 59 minutes and 18 seconds to come 36th in his age group and 208th overall.

Nicki had a successful first race on the GB age group team, finishing in the top half of her age group field despite a long term injury.
