Walden triathlete takes second place in national European duathlon qualifier

Walden triathlete Pete Thompson continued his successful season at the National European Sprint Duathlon qualifying race in Middlesborough.

On a windy and wet day, he competed the 5km run/23km bike/2.5km run course in only 1hr 9mins 54secs to come second in his age group (55-59), only beaten by the reigning European champion, to automatically qualify for the British team for the 2015 Eurpean Sprint Duathlon Championships.

Despite being the tender age of 56 Thompson managed to come in the top 60 overall out of 348 athletes beating many much younger competitors in a high quality field.
