Walden Velo’s numbers are on the up after the club sent 45 riders to the Tour of Cambridge last weekend.

It was the most the club has sent to an event, beating the previous best of 41 that raced Brazier’s Run in February.

All 45 members completed Grand Fondo, a 128km course, with Shane Paramore leading the team home in 238th. The club also had four riders in the time trial - Adam Young, Ed Chedzoy, Russ Powell and Martyn Higson

“Cycling within Saffron Walden and the surrounding area is definitely on the increase” said a club spokesman. “We’re lucky again to have two stages of the Women’s Tour of Britain passing close by within the next two weeks, as well as National Bike week mid-June”

The next big event for Walden Velo is their annual 101 Sportive on June 21. Entry details and more information can be found on the club’s website.
