A WaldenTRI duo delivered excellent results at the World Duathlon Championships in Aviles, Spain.

Matthew Bainbridge ended 22nd in the 30-35 years age group in 1:05 despite suffering mechanical issues with his bicycle.

Buchallet has now automatically qualified for the 2017 World Duathlon Championships, which will take place in Canada.

The event, which encompassed a 5km run, 20km cycle ride and another 2.5km run, saw over 1,400 athletes from around the world competing in sprint and standard distance duathlons.

Age-group GB athletes were competing at the event along with elite duathletes, junior and U23 racers, and paratriathletes.

For members of a small local triathlon club like WaldenTRI to have qualified to compete at this event is a major achievement in itself and a great accolade for the club.
