Stuart Wardley, Saffron Walden Town’s manager, is hoping another cup run can give the club the same ‘buzz’ as last season.

The Bloods travel to Hadley this Saturday in the extra preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup. Kick-off is 3pm.

Wardley wants a cup run that can rival last year’s exploits in the FA Vase, when Walden reached the fourth round.

“We definitely want a good run. Last year’s run in the Vase was really enjoyable,” he said.

“The buzz the town got from it was a great experience and hopefully we can do it again.”

Hadley, Saturday’s opponent, were one of the teams Walden beat in the Vase last season, giving them plenty of optimism ahead of the tie.

The Bloods reached the preliminary round of the FA Cup last season and took Welwyn Garden City to a replay after drawing 1-1 at Catons Lane. Their fairytale ended at Herns Lane as WGC won 3-1.
