BEN Kerr, golf professional at Saffron Walden Golf Club, qualified in style for the PGA east region golf tour finishing tied for first place on 143 with Mark Hooper from Rayleigh and Ben Cooper from Bishops Stortford at Woolston Manor GC .

Kerr lead the first round with a 69, the lowest of the tournament, and a second round 74 sealed the top spot. The door now opens for Kerr to play in all the Order of Merit events in the east of England this year and the Merit winner gains a place in the BMW Championship at Wentworth.

Joining him on the tour will be Daniel Titheradge from SWGC who qualified in 25th spot on 151. The top 50 all gained their cards.

Kerr said afterwards: “This is a great win for me as this will give me confidence for the season ahead especially on this tour and also the assault on the Europro tour which starts soon.”
