- SAFFRON Seals got off to a cracking start in the first of six fixtures in the Essex mini-league at Witham. Despite being head coach Gareth Warwick’s first time in charge 98 per cent of his youngsters achieved personal bests across all styles.
Club captain have also been announced - Daniel Benton and Emily Abrey and assistants Albert Pavelin and Elizabeth Eddershaw. Seals’ next fixture is on Saturday, June 12 at Rochford.
- Saffron Walden swimmer Ellie Mitchell secured a gold medal in the 10 and under freestyle race at the National Finals of the annual prep schools championships.

The Wimbish youngster, who attends Bishop Stortford College, was ranked first by just 0.01 seconds. She improved her PB by one second to become National champion IAPS for her age group. College swimming coach Deborah Huggett: “I am so proud of every member of the team for their outstanding performances.”
