SAFFRON Walden U10 Blues capped a marvellous season by winning the Spartak Mini League Tournament at Herbert’s Farm on Saturday.

The Blues won all their league matches, beating Spartak Reds, Spartak Blacks, Whittlesford Warriors, Sawston United and Barrow Academy along the way without conceding a single goal.

In the semi-final draw, Walden came up against a combative Whittlesford side but eventually they run out 2-0 winners.

The final against Spartak Reds was a tense affair with no goals scored in normal or extra time – and penalties had to decide the outcome. Park, Moss, Inkley, Davies and Braico all displayed nerves of steel and fired home their penalties to see Blues over the line.

The Blues squad: Aaron MacDermott, Alex Owens, Alfie Moss, Amrik Braico, Jacob Park, James Inkley, Jared Pilkington, Mathias Davies, Robbie Draper, Simi Sangha and Toby O’Malley.
