Search is on for ‘Saffron Walden’s Got Carnival Talent’

PUBLISHED: 17:04 08 June 2014

Saffron Walden Arts Trust is calling for entrants to its talent competition, to be held on Friday, July 11, in the town hall as part of carnival week.

Performers of all ages and across all genres are welcome – the only proviso is that they live locally and are non-professional.

Entry to the competition is free and there is a first prize of £200, sponsored by Wakelin’s Intercounty estate agents, and two runner-up prizes of £50 each.

Entry forms with full details are available from the Tourist Information Centre or online at, or contact Miranda Pender on 07896 354616. The closing date is Friday, June 20.

Miranda said: “We want it to be an enjoyable experience for all the performers, so the judges will focus on the positive aspects of each act, and offer constructive advice rather than criticism. It will be a great evening’s entertainment to see the best of local up-and-coming talent.”

Tickets to the concert cost £7 adult (£5 child/£20 family) and are available from the Carnival Caravan in Market Square, through the website or on the door (space permitting).

Saffron Walden Ladies’ Circle will be running the bar. Proceeds will be split between Saffron Walden Arts Trust and the Ladies’ Circle chosen charity, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
