Leave No Trace (PG)

Directed by Debra Granik, who directed Winter’s Bone, this is another father and daughter drama, starring Ben Foster, Thomasin McKenzie, Jeff Kober, and Dale Dickey.

Celebrated as absorbing and delicately directed and acted, Will (Ben Foster) and his teenage daughter, Tom (Thomasin McKenzie), live a perfect but off-the-grid existence in Forest Park, a beautiful nature reserve near Portland, Oregon.

They rarely make contact with the outside world. But when a small mistake tips them off to authorities, they are sent on an increasingly erratic journey in search of a place to call their own.

The film is described as a profound and striking story about love, family, loyalty, understanding and compassion. Winter’s Bone was similarly about a daughter and a father.

Jennifer Lawrence starred as a teenage girl in the rural Ozarks of Missouri who, to protect her family from eviction, had to locate her missing father. Leave no trace is showing at Saffron Screen at 8pm on Monday, August 13 and Tuesday, August 21. Tickets, or Tourist Information in the Market Square, 01799 524002.
