A dementia-friendly screening of On The Town will be at Saffron Screen at 3pm on Wednesday, April 10.

The all-singing, all dancing, MGM musical, starring Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra was made in 1949, in technicolor.

With music by Leonard Bernstein and Roger Edens, the film was an immediate success and won the Oscar for Best Music—Scoring of a Musical Picture, and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Cinematography Screenwriters Comden and Green won the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Written American Musical.

Three sailors, Gabey, Chip, and Ozzie, are excited about their 24-hour shore leave in New York. Gabey falls in love with the picture of “Miss Turnstiles”, who is actually called Ivy Smith. He fantasizes about what she’s like in real life, so they set out to find her.
