SAFFRON Screen is hosting the premier of Walden 24: A Day in the Life of Saffron Walden (PG) on Saturday September 18 at 2pm and Sunday September 19 at 8pm.

Filmed over 24 hours on May 18, the film gives a unique insight into the workings of a modern market town. The cast, producers and crew are all local to this area and many have donated their time and energy to produce the 80 minute film.

Chairman of Saffron Screen, Rebecca del Tufo, said, “It is exciting to see the work of talented local film-makers and producers, as well as the range of activities undertaken in our town.

“With the anticipation of seeing or hearing yourself on the big screen, we welcome everyone to come and see if they have been featured.”

Peter Riding, chairman of the Saffron Walden Initiative who made the Walden 24 film, said: “We are very excited about the film being shown at Saffron Screen and believe that the film provides an enthralling insight into the workings of a market town in 2010. For those featured and interested, the DVD will be on sale at the screenings.”

The cast is the people of Saffron Walden as toddlers, school children, teenagers, commuters, stall holders, retailers, professionals, volunteers, singers, musicians, artists, gardeners, competitors, learners, reporters, manufacturers, employees, managers, educators, divers, skaters and keep fitters. Also, the film crews, editor, producer and musicians all come from the Saffron Walden area.

Regular tickets prices are: Full £6, Adult Concessions £4 (day) or £5 (evening), 18 and under £3.50 (day) or £4.50 (evening).

Tickets and information are available online at saffronscreen.com from the Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre, or at the cinema Box Office which opens 30 minutes before screening.

Saffron Screen is a not-for-profit independent cinema operating at Saffron Walden County High School with cinema seating, a full size screen and Dolby Digital surround sound.

For those who can’t view the film at Saffron Screen, the film can be ordered as a DVD for £12 including postage and packing - forms are available at the Tourist Information Centre or from the Initiative website at swinitiative.org
