SAFFRON Screen is hosting comedian and bestselling author, Tony Hawks on Friday (Nov 19) at 8pm.

Following the screening of his film Round Ireland with a Fridge (PG), Tony will participate in a question and answer session and sign copies of his books. HARTS will sell his books before and after the film.

The film, based on an international bestseller, is about a self-centred, pampered celebrity who accepts a drunken bet that will change his outlook on life.

On his funny and heart-warming journey around the coastline of Ireland, Tony meets a series of bizarre characters, falls for a feisty radio reporter and takes his fridge surfing. Tony Hawks takes the lead role and is joined by a stellar cast of comedians including Sean Hughes, Ed Byrne and Josie Lawrence.

However, The Fridge has been receiving the lion share of praise from the critics. Tony claims not to be bitter but his words about his co-star are far from friendly; “The Fridge was temperamental and constantly turned up late on set. Yes, the performance is good, but only because we took the only good takes from the hundreds we had to shoot.”

Responding to his new found fame, the Fridge said, “The critical acclaim I have received has made it all worthwhile, and I’m expecting nominations - certainly at the ‘Refrigeration Monthly’ awards.”

To add to the accolades, it has just been announced that Tony Hawks and the Fridge have been awarded the Guinness World Record for most miles travelled with a white good.

Due to The Fridge’s busy schedule, Tony Hawks has been left to carry out all of the promotional duties for the film.

Tickets are: Adults £6, Adult Concession £5, 18 and Under £4.50. Tickets and further information for all films are available online, from the Tourist Information Centre in Saffron Walden, or at the Box Office.

• Saffron Screen is a not-for-profit, independent cinema operating at Saffron Walden County High School with cinema seating, a full size screen and Dolby Digital surround sound.
