FOLK legend Ralph McTell will arrive in Haverhill next month as part of his Somewhere Down the Road UK tour.

Hi appearance – at the town’s Arts Centre on Thursday November 18 at 8pm – coincides with the release of his first studio album of original material in 10 years.

Featuring the McTell trademarks of dazzling guitar playing and complex, poetic lyrics, Somewhere Down The Road looks set to become another landmark album for McTell – in his 45th year as a professional musician.

Perhaps most famous for his 1969 song Streets of London, this album also features tracks which examine and celebrate humanity in its many guises.

Somewhere Down The Road was inspired by anecdotes and ideas from sources as diverse as the 18th century writer Dr Johnson, blues icon Robert Johnson, Cajun, traditional folk and even the film Citizen Kane.

Standout songs include A Kiss in the Rain and arrangement of the traditional song Blackwaterside.

Tickets for the show are £20 and available from the box office on 01440 714140 and the website at haverhillartscentre.co.uk
