Newport Amateur Theatrical Society (NATS) is performing its 13th annual pantomime later this month.

Babes in the Wood by Limelight Scripts is a traditional pantomime script which, in the end and after a bellyful of laughs and plenty of audience participation, sees Robin Hood marry Maid Marian.

NATS actor Quentin Dawe said: “This pantomime is sure to great fun and there will be lots of audience participation.

“The NATS cast is about 30 strong and very enthusiastic. Rehearsals have certainly gone well and it promises to be a good production.”

Indeed, if NATS’ last pantomime, Calamity Jane in 2010, is anything to go on, then this year Babes in the Wood, directed by Matt Squirell, is sure to delight the whole family.

The production runs in Newport Village Hall at the following times: Friday January 21 at 7.30pm; Saturday 22 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm; Sunday January 23 at 2.30pm.

Tickets – at £6.50, £5 concessions – are available from Newport Post Office, Newport Village Stores and Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre.
