A brand new pantomime but with all the traditional fun, The Elf King, will be at Newport Village Hall from Friday, January 18 to Sunday, January 20.

The show, presented by NATS, Newport Amateur Theatre Society, which was nominated for an award by NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) for last year’s Rapunzel, has been written by one of the company, Yvonne Hannant, who also creates the costumes.

The Elf King wants to take over the wood and trick the lovely Priscilla into marrying him. But he reckons without the magic of the Good Fairy, and the machinations of Woody the Woodcutter and Dame Hilda Woods, Woody’s mum.

The comedy is carried by The Elf King’s henchmen, Briar and Thistle and there will singing, dancing and audience participation.

Shows at 7.30pm on the Friday and Saturday and 1.30pm on the Sunday. Tickets, £7 adults, £6.50 children, from thelittleboxoffice.com/NATS or Newport Village Stores or Saffron Walden Tourist Information 01799 524002, or on the door.
