The first-ever Clavering Church Heritage Day saw visitors travel from far and wide to learn about the 15th century church - described by one resident as an 'ancient treasure' at the heart of the village.
Organised by Clavering History Group, the event opened with Reverend Paddy Cable opening a new church history corner, and Peter Milledge introduced visitors to the group's newly-completed album of gravestone inscriptions.

Historians gave talks, including Simon Coxall on landscape, Mary Dickens on changes in the Reformation, Christopher Parkinson on stained glass, Elizabeth Allen on artistry within the building and Jacqueline Cooper on people and stories associated with the church.
Saffron Walden Museum and members of the history group also provided craft activities and refreshments.
